Advanced Plumbing Leak Detection
We use a range of advanced leak detection methods. Our plumbers perform video camera inspections. That’s where we use a high-definition camera attached to a cable we can snake through the plumbing. This approach is often the best way to find leaks, which can be quite small, in sewer and main water lines.
For other leaks throughout a home or lawn, we’ll often use thermal imaging. The movement of water, such as from a leak, creates energy, and that has a heat signature. Thermal imaging not only allows us to visualize that heat but also to see its intensity. With that information, we can often pinpoint even small leaks in no time at all.
We can also employ acoustic detection. This can be useful inside a home where there are construction materials that may interfere with thermal imaging. The movement of water from a leak creates vibrations and sounds. Our equipment amplifies those noises to let us hear them. It also provides visual data so that we can see the leak and navigate to it.
Once we’ve found the leak, we can repair it. In many cases, a repair involves replacing a damaged pipe or connector. If there’s a slab plumbing leak, the repair is often more complex. In many situations, we’ll reroute the plumbing to have easier access in the future.
